OUR WHY

“A couple of years ago, me and my family went through a season of experiencing homelessness. I couldn’t provide for my baby boys like I really wanted to as far as their birthdays and holidays. Those were times when I started to feel depressed, because I couldn’t buy any of my children just one outfit or pair of shoes. With RATL being a part of our life, they provided gifts that included toys, clothes, shoes, winter items, and school supplies! My heart was so full of joy and gratitude for this gift that RATL provided for my family. I could not say thank you enough. It felt so wonderful to see smiles on my sons’ faces!”

Aceonna and her family moved out of a residential shelter and into their own apartment and have now been in stable housing for over a year. Aceonna continues to attend weekly RATL Bible Study and attends RATL Family Events with her boys! We are grateful to know you, Ace!

 

  • Children in homelessness have a graduation rate of 24%, while those with stable housing have a graduation rate of 90%.

  • Children in homelessness have twice the rate of learning disabilities and three times the rate of emotional and behavioral problems of non-homeless children.

  • In Georgia, one in five children are growing up in poverty and more than one in four children live in a family where no parent has full-time, year-round employment.
